About Pinned Q&A

When using a Presentation Pigeonhole live, you can gather questions from your audience to answer during your talk. By default, a Q&A Interactivity is "pinned" in the Audience Web App. This functionality creates a dedicated, always-accessible channel for questions.

Participants can access the Q&A from their Audience Web App at any time to submit questions, regardless of the slide you’re currently on. They can switch back and forth between what you’re currently presenting and the pinned Q&A by using the Presentation and Q&A tabs at the top of the screen.

The participant experience

With a pinned Q&A Interactivity, a Q&A tab displays at the top of the Audience Web App. Participants can engage with it at any time while the Presentation Pigeonhole is in Active status. The exception is if you hide it. When you hide a pinned Q&A (by selecting the “More Actions” menu (...) > Hide when you create or edit it), it’s only visible in the Audience Web App while you’re presenting.

The Audience Web App defaults to the Presentation tab. This area automatically shows the same Interactivity you’re currently presenting. The audience can select the Q&A tab to:

  • Submit a new question by typing it into the text field at the top of the screen.
  • View all questions submitted by audience members, displayed directly below the text field.
  • Vote for their favourite questions by selecting the up arrow icon to the left of a question.
  • See the vote count for any question, which displays immediately to the left of the question text.

Present a Pinned Q&A

When you give your talk, the Pinned Q&A always displays at the top of the Interactivities list. You can switch to it at any time by selecting Interactivities in the Projector Panel’s Control Bar.

After you open the Q&A, each question displays as a card in the Projector Panel. By default, question cards display as a list. You can change how the Q&A displays in the Projector Panel by selecting Display > Column view in the Control Bar. There’s also an option to display a Random question.

Unpin a Q&A

If you don't want to let the audience engage with the Q&A during your talk, you can unpin it. Hover over the card for the Q&A and select the “More options” menu (…) > Unpin.
