Privacy and security with Pigeonhole Live for PowerPoint

The Pigeonhole Live for PowerPoint add-in is designed to seamlessly integrate Pigeonhole Live sessions into your presentations. To do so with a smooth and efficient experience, the add-in needs certain access rights within PowerPoint. These permissions allow our add-in to:

  • Interact with your PowerPoint presentations to present and display interactive results
  • Use Pigeonhole Live directly within PowerPoint to create, modify and display interactivity in your slides
  • Identify your account by email for support and account management purposes

We only require access that is crucial for the add-in's core functionality, and will only request and use the minimum permissions necessary to do so.

This access is strictly for the purposes described in this document. We do not access, collect, or store any data beyond what is strictly necessary for the add-in to function as intended.

You will need to agree with these permissions before installing the add-in. This article will describe each permission, and its purpose and usage. For other information relating to use of your data, please refer to our Privacy policy and Security policy.

Required Permissions and Their Purpose

Can read and make changes to your document

  • Purpose: This allows our add-in to interact with your presentations, enabling you to add, manage, and present Pigeonhole interactivities within your PowerPoint presentation seamlessly.
  • Usage:
    • The add-in requires read and write access to retrieve the Slide ID and store the ID of any Pigeonhole interactivity added to the slide.
    • The add-in does not read or store any of your presentation content, such as text, graphics, comments, or revisions.
    • We do not store any data specific to your presentation. Instead, data is saved directly within the document using Presentation tags and Office Settings. Only Pigeonhole add-ins can access this data.
    • Pigeonhole only stores login sessions and user access tokens on its backend for the Task Pane Add-In. These sessions expire after a set time, and we do not store user sessions within the document.

Can send data over the Internet

  • Purpose: This allows our add-in to manage interactivities and fetch live data from your Pigeonhole sessions during presentations.
  • Usage:
    • The add-in displays your Pigeonhole events and sessions in the side panel, enabling you to select, edit, and insert session slides into your presentation.
    • We connect to our servers only to retrieve Pigeonhole interactivities and related content that has been added to your slides.

Pigeonhole Live is committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent with how we use the data collected from you. You can find more information about our Privacy and Security policies on our website. If you have any questions, please contact us at security@pigeonlab.com.
