What is an Event or Presentation Passcode?
Passcodes are what attendees use to access your Pigeonhole on the Audience Web App (https://www.pigeonhole.at). On Pigeonhole Live, Passcodes are a series of letters and numbers that you select for attendees. Each Pigeonhole has its own unique passcode.
Since Pigeonhole Live is web-based, the passcode will also be reflected in your Pigeonhole URL.
For example, a Pigeonhole with the passcode “QWERTY” will be hosted at http://pigeonhole.at/QWERTY.
How do you select a Passcode?
When you set up a new Event Pigeonhole, you will be prompted to choose a unique passcode (passcodes are automatically generated in Presentation Pigeonholes.) You can also either randomly generate one, or enter one of your own.
A passcode can only consist of letters and numbers, and has to be between 4 to 20 characters. Spaces, underscores or hyphens are not supported. Event passcodes are case-insensitive.
Passcodes also have to be unique. If another active Pigeonhole has already the passcode you selected, it cannot be used again until that Pigeonhole has ended. A Pigeonhole will have ended once the complete Pigeonhole duration plus a two days buffer has elapsed.
If you have chosen a passcode that is already in use, you will be prompted to choose a new one.
Tip: If you want your Passcode to be memorable and related to the event or presentation name, you can either use the event name or an abbreviated form of your event name. It can also be helpful to append a number series or the year to the event passcode. Alternatively, if you wish for some security, you can choose a random passcode.
Can you reuse a Passcode?
You can reuse passcodes in your Pigeonholes with a caveat — Pigeonholes must have ended before the passcode can be reused. This means there also isn't a way to reserve passcodes in advance and passcodes are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
To clarify, a Pigeonhole is determined to have ended only after the complete Pigeonhole duration (i.e. 7 days), plus another two days buffer has elapsed.
